Dr. Hartman does research on reading and writing across the curriculum, college success and transition issues, the role of writing and reading in college success and career exploration, and the use of technology in teaching to improve student engagement and success. She is the author of two textbooks: 35 Ways to Discover a Major and Investing in Your College Education: Learning Strategies with Readings. She is the co-chair of the English Department Promotion Committee and a member of the ENG 022/023 Assessment teams.
In 2014, Dr. Hartman was the invited speaker at the Cengage Learning Fall Conference in Austin, TX where she presented “Online Cooperative Storytelling: Writing to Connect, Writing to Learn.” She is a certified TESOL/TEFL specialist. Additionally, Dr. Hartman was the recipient of the APSCUF-KU Distinguished Service Award and the National Academic Advising Association’s Outstanding Advising Award.
