Dr. Pokorny-Golden works on adolescent literature, literary theory, service learning, and teaching education/literacy studies. She has recently published “The Censoring of Menstruation in Adolescent Literature” which appeared in Women’s Reproductive Health in Spring 2015, and “The Graphic Novel as Historical Marker: Making ‘History Readable’ through Reader Reader Response Theory” in Yin an Yang in the English Classroom: Literary Criticism and Pedagogy of Popular Texts (Rowan & Littlefield, 2014). Dr. Pokorny-Golden serves on the Kutztown University Veteran’s Task Force, the University Committee on the Status of Women and the NCATE Report for Secondary Education-English.
